Twitter limits you must know

Try to guess. What social network has a limit of 140 characters to write a message? That’s it, Twitter, we all know this. But what do you know about its other limitations?

The space of a tweet is not the only norm you have to know to manage properly your Twitter account; there are other limits you have to bear in mind.

  1. Your username can be a maximum of 15 characters long.
If you want to create an account with a longer username, hold on. Whether it is a personal or a company account, it cannot exceed that limit.
  2. You have 160 characters to complete your biography.
Write an attractive biography for your followers. It has to be original and fit on the space provided.

  1. You can follow up to 5,000 people.
In the beginning there is a limit of accounts you can follow set to 5,000. Then it depends on the users that each of them have. An example: you cannot follow 10,000 people if you only have 200 followers.
  2. You cannot follow more than 1,000 people each day. This is the daily maximum, but it does not mean that you have to follow so many people at once. If you do not want people to think that your account is fake, follow real accounts and do it naturally.
  3. No more than 1,000 tweets each day, including retweets. You will hardly reach or get close this figure in a day. In fact, you better do not.
  4.  You can have up to 1,000 lists and each of them can contain up to 5,000 accounts.

These are some of the limits set by Twitter that you must abide with if you do not want your account to be closed. If the social network thinks your behaviour is automated or fake, Twitter will punish you blocking the account.

If you want to prevent this from happening, behave like a person and not like a machine. The best thing is to let the account grow naturally – the more credibility you have, the better.

So follow the rules if you want to avoid this. Now you are warned.
